Certain types of physical exercise, such as walking, cycling, and swimming, will relax and energize you in order to keep your mind and body working together like a well-tuned instrument. However, do not engage yourself to the point of exhaustion. Avoid any exercises that cause tightness or fatigue in your arms and hands.
An integral part of your self-care regimen must include paying attention to how food affects your performance. The effects of food are often immediate, but may sometimes be delayed until several hours after you eat. Experiment with different types and quantities of food, and observe your reaction to them. You will naturally want to eat those foods that make your mind sharp and your body full of energy.
Beware of foods which are a quick source of energy, but later cause you to have a drop in blood sugar levels, which impact your concentration and alertness. Avoid those foods that dull your mind or those which do not fuel your body adequately. Make sure you drink plenty of liquids, preferably water, since maintaining the body’s fluid levels greatly impacts your performance, not to mention your general health.
When you get into the habit of maintaining both a balanced nutritional plan and a healthy exercise program, you will improve your chances to achieve the maximum results in both practice and performance.
