Words From Our Students

I love the fact that I can study with the LAGA Faculty (saw you guys biographies at laguitar.com) without driving!   I recommend it for beginners who are looking for a good direction, and, my goodness, for advanced players too (check their demo videos!).  I used the first week to see exactly where I'm at.  Once you know this, the program takes you to the next level one step at a time.

I enjoy the privacy and being able to sit down at the end of my day and work in private.  When I took private lessons from a teacher, I didn't give him any point of reference from where to start with me.  The online courses have fixed that.  I know exactly where I stand.  I have always played by ear since 1985, and I felt silly showing someone else my "homemade" music.  Now, studying the Classical and picking out the individual notes as opposed to chords, it's falling right in line with what is familiar to me and all of these years, I haven't really been wasting my time.

One thing I can tell, you guys must have put a lot of work into this. :)

Trudi Sagovac, Los Angeles, CA

Hey there, rock player here for 9+ years and has always been interested in the classical style.  Your teaching system is perfect for me because it fits with the rote style I'm used to.  BTW, I have always been intimidated by reading music.  not anymore!

Jim Derren, Seattle

I took the trial period and was pretty sure I was going to cancel at the end of the trial.  Now I'm hooked!  I like the fact that you have access to the whole program whatever your level is.  It seems I'm currently a level 1 player and it is tempting to skip to higher level pieces, but I'm trying to be patient and diligent, and using the higher levels as a motivation source.

Wow! I'm impressed with the site and the platform design. Smooth, compact and elegant.  I'm a website designer and play guitar as a hobby.  With all the guitar sites that look messy and hard to navigate on the web these days, it was really refreshing to find your site.  Keep up the great work, THANK YOU.

Brendan Donald, San Diego, CA

I have been on and off in the last 2 decades between the Frederick Noad method, Christopher Parkening, Scott Tennant guitar methods.  Even looked at Carcassi, Guiliani methods and studies for a while.  LAGA Online will save you so much time because it integrates all these great systems into one comprehensive course.  You still get the full course of a serious guitar curriculum at an established conservatory or music school.

Great selection of pieces.  I like that it gives you tools and techniques that you can use later to play whatever piece you want whenever.  I first signed up with the Classical, but now I'm enrolled in Flamenco, Core (awesome theory lessons) and LAGA Teach!  Thanks for the great content and keep it coming :)

Will Humphrey, Sacramento, CA

Having taught jazz improvisation for 8 years, I believe that an acoustic/classical technical study supplement is not just helpful, but essential in getting to a top technical level and expanding your technical horizons like you never imagined.  I not only recommended all my  improv/jazz students to subscribe to laga Classical but signed up for it myself!  Now I'm enrolling to LAGA Flamenco.

Jamie Wilson, Boston, MA

I am 58 and because of my health issues and medical needs I am not able to leave my house for long periods of time.   I have always wanted to study classical guitar but somehow never got a chance over the years.  Just came across LAGA Online last week and I am really excited  and thankful to you guys for building this site.   It is never too late to pursue your dreams.

Phil Davis, Montecito, CA

I first signed up for the free trial and honestly was just expecting a set of  licks tricks on guitar etc.  I was pleasantly surprised that each of these programs are actually full comprehensive systems.  I'm a teacher at a junior college and constantly work on lesson plans and curriculi.  So I know a great curriculum when I see one and I really appreciate the thorough and systematic teaching style.

Stan Evander, Portland, Oregon

I travel CONSTANTLY as a part of work.  Now with the help of your online guitar program, all I need is my laptop to continue my guitar lessons. (I have one of those foldable travel guitars). My wife is impressed each time I get back from a business trip and I can play a new piece!

Jonathan Zed, San Francisco, CA

Excellent site and programs.  I have been looking for online guitar lessons for a while now, just found this and already enrolled in Classical and Flamenco which have been my passions since I took my first guitar lesson in the 80s. Great choice of repertoire.  I like that it gives you tools and techniques that you can use later to play whatever piece you want whenever.

Jerred Rashid, BC, CANADA

I'm pretty much a web junkie and I know what's where on the internet.  You WILL NOT FIND another online guitar lesson site on the internet that will give you such a direct, no headache, no time wasting flamenco lesson.  This is none of that guitar tips and tricks business.  Straight to the point; divided up in smaller bits that are easy to master...  Thanks LAGA!

Larry Fulke, Las Vegas, NV

I have been taking lessons from a local guitar teacher for about 2 years. When I found this site, I couldn't help but quit the private lessons.  Given the economic downturn, I wasn't able to pay $40/hr (which is 160 a month).   I mean when you compare the $47 I'm paying for online guitar lessons to $160, it is an obvious decision. Not to mention the top quality lessons.

Lauren Casey, San Jose, CA

I signed up for flamenco lessons of LAGA online.   I had heard from my classical guitar teacher that you have to go to Spain to learn flamenco guitar.  Actually I'm not sure about that anymore.  This Flamenco lesson program seems to be the next best thing.

The teaching platform is a pleasure to be on.  It is like a work of art.  the design etc makes it so easy to use. So access hundreds of lessons without changing pages, browsing, it is great. Everything is like in one box interface. I feel like I could do the guitar lessons on my Iphone.

Doris Ryanne, Philadelphia, PA

I started and stopped learning guitar maybe about 4 times.  I gave up each time because I was having a lot of trouble learning how to read sheet music.  These guys at LAGA nailed it in Level one of Laga Classical ! What a concept, learn how to read notes by playing fold tunes all around the world.  It was so easy I didn't really feel I had to memorize anything.  at the end of level 1, I am now able to read music and fully familiar with notes on all 6 strings.   It is worth the tuition just for this part alone.

Tommy Conrad, Rochester, NY

I must have tried 5-6 different online guitar lesson sites before I found LAGA Online.  It is by far the best one I have ever tried.  They have a cool selection of pieces.  By the way the customer support is great too - they get back to you in like 15 minutes.

I also love the fact that there is a lot of emphasis on posture and positions. I've always had neck and back problems (herniated disc).  It really helps for those of you with physical problems, like me, to know that you are in good hands.  God bless!

Karen Jennis, Mountain View, CA

Recently I got laid off due to economic crisis.  Naturally I wasn't able to afford the $200+ I was paying monthly to my private classical guitar teacher anymore.  Then I started looking for an affordable but QUALITY online guitar lesson site.  I'm very glad to have found you guys.  By the way flamenco lessons also look awesome.  After I've finished the classical, I think I'll give flamenco a shot.

Tad Morgen, Los Angeles, CA

I read from other users positive things about the program but I'm now in my 3rd month with the classical program and officially impressed!  I didn't think I'd be writing a success story but here is a quick summary.  I can already play Pavana by Milan, Allegretto by Guiliani and 10 more (all memorized).  In my first month I was already playing the Greensleeves, which I was totally impressed myself.  well, frankly I should give more credit to the brilliant folks who prepared this program.

Kit Lawson, Long Beach, CA

My dad 70 year old who is a sweetheart, dad bought me a a guitar for Christmas.  I have been looking for a good place to take lessons but given the economic difficulties I was having trouble with the lesson fees. Whn I found the LA Guitar Academy's online guitar  lesson site, I couldn't believe my eyes that with such a low monthly fee they provide you with everything you need to become a master on your own.  Thank you so much.

Terrance Gallagher, Atlanta, GA

I was a private student of Emre Sabuncuoglu and had studied with him for 3 years.  I was well on my well to the top level pieces of the classical guitar repertoire such as the Alhambra by Tarrega and the  Chaconne by J.S. Bach.  When I was relocated to Phoenix, it was the worst news for my guitar playing.   Then I found out that LAGA launched its online lesson division, trust me, if you are not in LA, this is the next best thing!  Don't miss the opportunity!

Jim Maurice, Phoenix, AZ

I've used and compared many online guitar lesson sites over the years,  this is a phenomenal lesson platform with top-quality content.  I've been having a blast with the online lesson platform. I especially like the way its set up in smaller chunks, very easy to digest...
Thank you LAGA for the awesome site.  I'm in my second month and my playing has really improved.  I love the privacy of being by myself and studying from home, without having to travel or to see anybody in person.  I'm just happy playing for my family.  My daughter is now interestedin starting the guitar.  It has been a good influence and inspiration for her.

Rock on LAGA!

Evelyn Angelle, Seattle, WA

The Classical program had like all my favorite tunes and pieces!  Now I'm building my chops in level 1, next week I should be starting level2 and making some cool music.  Thank you for coming up with this online division. Even if I did get a chance, I probably couldn't qualify to study in person with LA Guitar Academy.
